Listen to your BARK!

It’s depressing to think about some moments in our lives…but we all come to contemplate the inevitable “What difference do we make?”. As humans we want to make our mark on this world, big or small.

I’ve had two comments back recently that showed me my wake zone goes as far south as Florida, and as far west as California. If that’s my wake zone, I’ll take it!

Leaving you mark on this earth is a very important part of your every day life…maybe it’s the examples you set out to perform like opening the doors for anyone around you, being a great parent, being a great boss or friend…we all hope for a legacy. What’s YOUR legacy? How do you impact the people around you?

This fine example of a human being decided to “Take the time” in her busy life schedule to have a bike ride…which ended up being more than just a bike ride for her…and to her I owe some gratitude for showing me I am not on the wrong path:

Every time we drop some sense (positive or negative) in this world…it leaves a wake, or a “ripple”. It could happen at work, at home or even the annual man camping trip… What kind of ripple do you make? Did you even take the time to notice?

I think often times our ripples collide and never get noticed…but sometimes they are strong enough to break though and reach unimagined destinations. If a months long camping trip and blogging experiment only leads to my lovely Niece having a single great moment on a single day…I am happy. But I do wish for more. I want to leave a wake like no other in this world! I want to teach, guide, coach and protect the ones I love and hope that some passer buys can pick up on some good vibes to extend my reach.

No matter what god you believe in, or what thing you serve….we were all put here for a reason. It’s a good idea to reckon with your reason so you can understand what your responsibility to the world is. We all have a responsibility, if not multiple responsibilities. I’m not talking about paying the bills or showing up on time to work…I’m talking about the deep stuff like family and friends. Take your purpose on this earth and DO SOMETHING GOOD WITH IT!!!

For me, it’s been being of service to others. I want to make things easier for others to do, consume or prosper. My regret is that I don’t know how to manage that desire…and sometimes the ones that are closest to me and need me the most loose out as I try to extend myself to others. I mean…if you were headed to Home depot on a Sunday morning to get things to complete a project that had a hard deadline and you passed an elderly couple broke down on their way to church would you stop? It doesn’t make you a bad person if you didn’t….but I feel it makes you a better person if you did. It’s an awfully fine line we walk….

What do YOU do to make this world one that you want to live in? Do you help that elderly couple change a flat tire? Do you open doors for people….do you greet people with the positivity that can ripple on to others? You have a job in life before you make it to your job….are you doing it? Do you even know what it is?

If you know me…this is the fabric in which I live. I haven’t been able to manage it well…but I’m not goin anywhere. My intent is to learn how to make sure I don’t somehow ignore the ones closest to me, and still be me to everyone else I come a across. If I can figure out how to do that AND not forget my own needs in the process I will be fined tuned for this earth. This has been the fault in my plan for too long and it’s high time I figure it out.

Here I am, soaking in the rays (well…it’s gone down to into the 40’s now) in Myrtle Beach…but I have the time to reflect on my thoughts while the boy naps. I didn’t bring him to the beach today, but he got plenty of play in with Dexter his buddy:

So….in closing for today…Don’t be a NO Wake Zone…LEAVE A RIPPLE for the rest of the world to enjoy! Shaundra, I love you…I am happy FOR you and proud OF you…I can’t wait to meet Yogi!

Do something positive tomorrow ON PURPOSE to leave a wake…you might be surprised on how far it travels 🙂

Tomorrow we travel to Savannah Georgia for the night….I have a route mapped out after that which MAY involve Freedom sitting in a side by side for a trail ride around Hot Springs Arkansas, but we’ll see if I get approved for all my stays or if I need to alter my route at all.

There is more to come on this blog about all the people who help me be me…I’ve got some different pools of friends to share with you all and I dream for the day that I can integrate them more with each other.
